The item is received in good condition.
The item is nice and the workmanship and colour of the wood is as in the picture.
Sales support is quick.
The quality of the stone is not that good as there is slight chippings around the edge of the grinding stone, was informed by customer service to monitor the the condition while this is not harmful. I am fine if this is just part of the manufacturing process and the condition stays. So far its as it is.
While expected, manual grinding requires some effort and definitely slower.
As to the output after I tried to clean the item by grinding some white rice, I did notice the powder is not as fine as expected and there are some small fine black grains in the powder believe to be fine stone particles in this intial cleaning process.
Overall I will clean another time till I dont see the black particles before I do actual grinding for consumption. I give a four star because the result from the grinding is not as fine as expected, not sure if I tried 2 rounds of grinding the outcome will be better, as this is the first time I do manual grinding I find it tedious. Besides the finess of the output powder I still find the item acceptable and nice, with the great service from Loewen I dont mind conssidering buying other items I need from them in future.

Regarding your comment about the slight chipping on the grinding stone:
The grinding stones in the Mia Mola mill are made from high-quality, natural Naxos basalt with a magnesium binder. Minor edge chipping can occasionally occur during manufacturing or shipping, but these are typically purely cosmetic and have no impact on function, safety, or durability. Every mill is carefully inspected before shipping to ensure it operates correctly.
As for the small black particles you noticed during your initial cleaning run with rice — this is a normal part of the break-in process for natural stone mills and is specifically addressed by the manufacturer in the official manual:
“To clean the mill, grind a handful of dry rice. Some fine abrasion from the millstones may occur — this is normal and will disappear after a short time.”

After one or two cleaning runs, these particles should no longer appear. We recommend only using the mill for food preparation after this initial cleaning process is complete.
