I would make a design change. I would have more space between where the turning handle is and where the bread comes out.
The bread can get caught up in that area as it is now.
The adjustment I made to this was to cut my loaf in half lengthwise and then slice half slice pieces of bread. They do not get caught up as a whole slice of bread does.
