I love my bean machine and also tried doing carrots and they are fabulous too - just cut the carrots lengthwise to fit whole and put in like a bean - they are lovely and evenly cut and going to try parsnips too and maybe cylinder beets and zucchini this summer when in season - Karen McCaffery

Well-made but not quite the same

I inherited my mother's Dutch cast-iron bean slicer. I was unable to source someone to repair/sharpen the blades. The Westmark slicer is a great replacement. My only concern is finding a counter or tabletop with enough depth for the slicer to attach to securely. I found it necessary to tighten the clamp several times while slicing.

Amazingly perfect slices

The bread slicer is easy to assemble and use and cuts perfect slices every time. You need to find an adequate surface onto which the suction cups will properly attach to ensure that the slicer does not move while you're slicing. A marble surface didn't work for us, but a melamine one did.
